Who is Ramtha?

Ramtha is the spirit that is channeled through medium J.Z. Knight. Apparently, he lived some 35,000 years ago in the mythical city of Atlantis.  Knight has become a multimillionaire as a result of her many books about the warrior from Atlantis whose ghost she channels.  He is part of the brotherhood that is present to guide mankind.

The principle teaching of Ramtha is that he has been to the core of the earth and found that it was hollow.  Therefore, on the basis of Ramtha’s claims there is no hell and certainly no such being as the devil.  When asked about the devil, Ramtha replied, “Devil?  I looked far an wide for the creature….I found him thriving in the hearts of frenzied entities in a fervor of madness to save the world from its sins….”1  As a matter of fact, since God made the devil and the devil is made out of God, then God is the devil.  And of course, man is God—equal with Christ.2  The process then of realizing this comes through enlightenment:  “the priority of love of Self first.”3

The “spirit Jesus” who dictated A Course in Miracles to a large extent mimics the teachings of Ramtha.  The rejection of man as a sinful creature, absolute truth, and belief in a personal Savior characterizes much of Ramtha’s teaching.  Despite this fact, the business world by the thousands have become followers of Ramtha, some paying top dollar to hear him be channeled.

Whether it be Jane Roberts channeling Seth, J.Z. Knight channeling Ramtha, or Jack Pursel channeling Lazarus, each has a different voice of their own which leaves the audience enthralled.  Many channelers have been given the privilege of speaking to a national audience on the Oprah Winfrey Show.  These visits on television are the pulpit by which these spiritual charlatans seek to gain respectability as they spread the lies of spiritual eternality and self-deification.

Popularity with channeling and the message of a New Age has grown substantially over the past several decades.  John Klimo writes, “since 1986, channeling has reached into the grassroots.  It has entered the popular vocabulary.  Channeling now is part of current mainstream consensus reality.”4  The answers to the questions of life are being sought after from the wisdom communicated by the spirit world.  Whether it is through a medium, meditation, visualization, yoga, or any other host of occult practices, there is little doubt that the New Age has gained a respectable position in today’s society.

The days of strict scientific empiricism are over.  The “death of materialism” has resulted in the fascination with the spirit world and metaphysical realities.  Interaction with spirit guides and the opportunity to be “touched by an angel” are prestigious experiences to be sought after.  The goal is open communication with the spirit world between mortal and immortal.  All the above is but a counterfeit of the millennial kingdom when immortals (glorified saints) will rule with Christ on the earth, interacting with the daily affairs of mortals.  The counterfeiting of spiritual experiences is but a conditioning for the short reign of Antichrist and the false peace he will bring.

It is absolutely staggering to become aware of the fact that many Christians are being sucked into this delusion.  The very thought that Norman Vincent Peale could publicly promote blatant heresies and give support to occult practices is amazing.  Perhaps more amazing is that Peale denies the Christian faith, and yet is praised by Billy Graham.  Graham likewise praises Peale’s chief disciple, Robert Schuller.  Schuller has commended all forms of Eastern meditation and hosts offices for “Christians and Muslims For Peace” in his Crystal Cathedral.

The delusion gets worse as Chuck Colson, Bill Bright, and Billy Graham receive the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion for contributing toward the development of Antichrist’s coming world religion.  Rather than heeding Jude’s exhortation to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints,” numerous evangelicals blatenly reject Christ’s mandate.  Are they not just as guilty as the Judaizers who Paul said were accursed for presenting a false gospel?

The church is losing its light in the world, and as a result the New Age Movement gains respectability.  If New Age practices and teachings are accepted in the church, then certainly it is not all that bad.  If the church embraces occult teaching and practices, one can readily understand why the world so eagerly embraces paganism.  Furthermore, the acceptance of the New Age by Christian leaders would seem to lend doubt to other myths that the church may believe (namely the death and resurrection of Christ).  The very heart of the gospel is at stake and the souls of those that do not know better when the church loses its will to discern.
